The Celebration of Life for Betty Clemensen, 93, of Aberdeen, SD, and formerly of Conde will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Conde Community Cemetery. Betty died Monday at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
Betty Kettering was born on August 28, 1926 to Harold and Alice (Johnson) Kettering in Aberdeen. She attended school in Brentford, SD where she met her future spouse Arlo, both graduating with the class of 1944.
On June 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Arlo Clemensen in Brentford, SD. Two children, Ronald and Patrice were added to this union. Following Arlo’s graduation from South Dakota State, the family returned to the Conde area where they farmed and worked cattle until the spring of 1994.
Betty and Arlo enjoyed traveling with family and friends, with their travels taking them all over the world. After more than sixty-four years together, Arlo passed away in November of 2011.
Betty was a member of Brentford UCC Church and later First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, the Flying Farmers, Winnebago Club, Conde Women’s Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the Clemensen Women’s Coffee Club.
Grateful for having shared Betty’s life are her son: Ron Clemensen; daughter: Patti (Lonny) Ellwanger; grandchildren: Brent, Brad, Brock; great-grandchildren: Tatum, Victoria, Xander, Kegan, Skyler, Arlo, Grayson, Kora, and sisters: Geneva Hogue and Mary Winkle.
Preceding Betty in death are her parents: Harold and Alice Kettering, spouse: Arlo Clemensen; and brothers: Dwayne Kettering and Dwight Kettering.
