The South Dakota ASA Hall of Fame Committee is proud to announce the new inductees for 2017.We want to thank everyone that submitted nomination forms this year and to all eligible voters that voted.The inductees are as follows:
Neil Vig served 27 years as men’s area slowpitch commissioner from Peever SD. Neil also served on the SDASA state executive board for 6 years.He assisted, at that time Gary Harrington in running 8 state tournaments each year.Neil also directed the northern Regionals when being in South Dakota.He was also instrumental in helping make many positive changes to the game of softball.
Bill and Wanelda Martinmaas and Martinmaas Dairy from Redfield SD.They sponsored boys and girls youth teams, men’s 12’ and 14’ all divisions, women’s all divisions, and coed all division’s mainly in slowpitch divisions. Numerous state title teams.Helped finance the Orient ballpark.Have everything volunteering from umpiring, coaching, concession workers, to cleaning the ballpark.
Charles Unterbrunner is a 21 year umpire from Artesian SD.He has worked over 70 state tournaments, including all divisions of slowpitch softball.Worked numerous invitational slowpitch tournaments. He has also worked numerous national tournaments receiving excellent ratings.
Cindy Johnson from Rapid City was Women’s Deputy Slowpitch Commissioner from 1998 through 2016.She also served on the SDASA state executive board.She was involved in the planning and building of the Star of the West softball complex while serving as a Rapid City softball association board member. She ran many State tournamnets, regional, and ASA representative for National Tournaments.
The annual banquet is scheduled for October 14th 2017 at the Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City SD.More details to come.
