Brad was born on February 12, 1961, in Lemmon, SD to Harold and Irene (Hess) Scoular. He played both football and basketball in high school. He graduated from Lemmon High School in 1980, and moved on to attend vocational school. He attended Western Dakota Vo-tech in Rapid City for welding and Mitchell Technical Institute for meat cutting.
Brad married Nancy Jahraus on July 25, 1987 at St Mary's Church in Lemmon, SD. Together, they had two daughters, Jessica and Joanna. They lived in Elgin, ND, Devils Lake, ND, and Davenport, IA. When they moved to Eagle Butte, SD, Brad worked at a local grocery store in the meat department. His hard work brought him to Aberdeen, SD where he became the manager of the meat department at Ken’s Super Fair Foods in Aberdeen, SD. He remained here for 17 years until the time of his death.
Brad had a love for the game of softball. In addition to playing, he was also a part of The Aberdeen Softball Umpires Association for 10 years, following his father’s footsteps as an umpire. He was also an avid fan of many sports teams including Aberdeen car races, Aberdeen Wings, New York Yankees, North Carolina Tar Heels, and his beloved Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved animals, especially his dogs Levi and Baeli, and grand-dog, Charlie. He was a very loving father, had a charismatic attitude and was a jokester with many. He even had his own catch phrase, “Really!?”
Grateful for having shared Brad’s life are his two daughters, Jessica (Alejandro) Figueroa of Mildenhall, England and Joanna Scoular of Aberdeen, Mother, Irene Scoular of Lemmon; brothers and sisters: Barbara Heupel of Bismarck, ND, Brian (Neva) Scoular of Lemmon, Beverly Houghton of Hettinger, ND, Brenda (Kevin) VanMeter of Aberdeen, and Blair (Colleen) Scoular of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.
