Her formal education consisted of St. Anthony’s Parochial School, Hoven High School (Class of 1956), and Presentation College in Aberdeen where she earned a nursing degree in 1959. Eleanor married Lawrence (Lefty) Schmidt on September 7, 1959, at St. Anthony’s Church in Hoven. Eleanor began her nursing career in 1959 at Holy Infant Hospital in Hoven.
